The fisherfolk of Talisay, Barotac Nuevo and adjacent barangays can now use and operationalize the CFLC together with the Local Government Unit, BFAR and NAPC. Situated in Sitio Lamintao, the CFLC will formalized the traditional fish landing site of the fisherfolk that are fishing in the rich fishing ground of Banate Bay.
BFAR 6 Regional Director Remia Aparri emphasizes in her message the importance of coastal resource management for the sustainability of the operation of CFLC. Director Aparri encouraged the fisherfolk and the LGU to support and implement the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan Program in the municipality. She discussed the program criteria, namely: no illegal fishing, observance of closed fishing season, declaration of marine protected areas, clean coastal waters and mangrove protection and rehabilitation.
The LGU fully supported the CFLC and being positive that the project will realize its objectives of providing fisheries post-harvest infrastructure support to ensure access to safe fishery products. The CFLC will serve as the hub for landing and auction of fish caught by municipal/artisanal fishermen and as training center for fish processing and value-adding, conservation and protection of fisheries resources and other undertakings that would help improve the livelihood of fisherfolk families.
